Recursive Process

The recursive process in English 110 worked to underline the difference between global and local revisions. Prior to this class I was unaware of the difference and had no idea of any sort of categorization when it came to revisions. In editing other people’s work I was able to understand what worked for that specific essay and what didn’t at a level of detail I couldn’t have reached without doing said revision. When given feedback, it helped me to broaden and deepen the level of detail in my personal essays. Oftentimes in sending my drafts to Professor Oliver he was able to return the document with a couple of areas that needed help with those two things. I feel this made my essays not only much stronger but much more fluid and evidence backed. Additionally, in working recursively with professor Brod I found ways to better word my points and more specifically integrate multiple sources in one essay. On top of this, not only was my feedback from Professor Oliver helping me to deepen detail, Professor Brod was able to help me successfully integrate my own personal connections to what I was writing in a way that strengthened and lengthened my essays. I found that as the year went on, it was easier to write longer and longer essays. Eventually it got to the point that on my third essay I was beginning to question if it was too long.
